Woman charged over drug-related death of baby boy

A woman has been charged over the death of a baby in Sydney's Inner West who was allegedly given illegal drugs.

An eight-week old boy was found unconscious inside a home on Ferris Street, Annandale, after emergency services were called on Sunday February 18, 2018.
Paramedics tried to revive the boy but he died at the scene.

Detectives began a lengthy investigation and a post-mortem report revealed the child had methylamphetamine and amphetamine in his system.

Yesterday, detectives attended a correctional facility in Silverwater and placed a 40-year-old woman under arrest.

She was charged with the domestic violence related offence of using a poison to endanger life and is scheduled to appear at Newtown Local Court today.
