The Drug Alert test panel provides only a qualitative, preliminary analytical result. A secondary analytical method must be used to obtain a confirmed result

Kit includes 5 testing units.

What's Inside

The Drug Alert Saliva Multi Kit (5) contains 5x Test Devices, and 1 x Package Insert.

How To Use

Allow the test Device, specimen and or controls to reach room temperature (15-30 degrees C) prior to testing. Instruct the donor to not place anything in the mouth, including food, drink, gum or tobacco products for at least 10 minutes prior to collection.

  1. Bring pouch to room temperature before opening it. Remove the test from the sealed pouch and use it within 1 hour.
  2. Take off the Device cap and collect oral fluid specimen as follows. Important: Place the absorbent wick against the upper, lower jaws and roots to enrich the oral fluid. Insert the sponge end into the mouth, actively swab around the gums on both sides of the mouth (10-15 times) to assist saturation. Put the absorbent wick under the tongue to collect oral fluid until the flow appear in the test windows (approximately 60 seconds) and then take out the device and start a timer. If no flow appeared repeat the procedure in steps above until the flow appear. If no flow appeared after triplicate of steps above, discard the device, review procedures with the donor, and repeat the test using a new device.
  3. Place the test device on a clean and level surface.
  4. Read the test result at 3-10 minutes.
  5. If all lines are clearly visible at 3 minutes or sooner, then the test can be interpreted as negative and discarded. If any lines are not visible at 3 minutes, then the test should be re-read at 10 minutes.
INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS

NEGATIVE: A coloured line appears in the control region (C) and another coloured line appears in the test region (T). This negative result means that the concentrations in the oral fluid sample are below the designated cut-off levels for a particular drug tested. NOTE: The shade of the coloured lines(s) in the Test regions (T) may vary. The result should be considered negative whenever there is even a faint line.

POSITIVE: A coloured line appears in the control region (C) and no line appears in the test region (T). The positive result means that the drug concentration in the oral fluid sample is greater than the designated cut-off for a specific drug.

INVALID: No line appears in the control region (C). Insufficient specimen volume or incorrect procedural techniques are the most likely reasons for Control line failure. Read the directions again, and repeat the test with a new test device. If the result is still invalid, contact your manufacturer.

WARNINGS
  • Store between 2 - 30 degrees C.
  • Do not use beyond expiry date.
  • Test must remain in sealed pouch until use.
  • A positive test result does not indicate the concentration of drug in the specimen or the route of administration.
  • A negative result may not necessarily indicate a drug-free specimen. Drug may be present in the specimen below the cut-off level of the assay.
  • The test does not distinguish between drug of abuse and certain medications.

FAQs

How accurate is the Drug Alert Saliva Self Testing Kit?

The Drug Alert Saliva Self Testing Kit provides 99% accuracy, ensuring reliable results for detecting various drugs in your oral fluid specimen.

What drugs can the Saliva Multi Kit detect?

The test results can be read between 3 to 10 minutes. If all lines are clearly visible at 3 minutes, the test can be interpreted as negative. If any lines are not visible at 3 minutes, re-read the test at 10 minutes.

What do the test results mean?

Negative: A colored line appears in the control region (C) and another colored line appears in the test region (T). This means the drug concentrations are below the cut-off levels.

Positive: A colored line appears in the control region (C) and no line appears in the test region (T). This indicates the drug concentration is above the cut-off levels.

Invalid: No line appears in the control region (C), indicating an issue with the test. Review the instructions and repeat the test with a new device if necessary.

What do the test results mean?

The "flow" refers to the movement of the saliva sample through the test device, which is indicated by the appearance of lines in the test windows. If no flow appears, it means the saliva has not moved through the device properly. To address this:

  1. Ensure the absorbent wick is placed correctly under the tongue.
  2. Actively swab around the gums (10-15 times) to saturate the sponge end.
  3. Hold the absorbent wick against the upper and lower jaws and roots to enrich the saliva collection.

If no flow appears after three attempts of the above steps, discard the device, review the procedures, and repeat the test with a new device.

How do I collect the saliva specimen?

Ensure nothing is placed in the mouth, including food, drink, gum, or tobacco, for at least 10 minutes prior to collection. Insert the sponge end of the device into the mouth, swab around the gums (10-15 times), and place the absorbent wick under the tongue until the flow appears in the test windows (approximately 60 seconds).

What should I do if no flow appears in the test windows?

Can I use the test if it's past the expiration date?

No, do not use the test beyond its expiration date as it may not provide accurate results. Ensure the test remains in its sealed pouch until use.

What should I do if I get an invalid result?

An invalid result usually means there was an issue with the test procedure or specimen volume. Here are a few tips to help ensure accurate results:

  1. Review Instructions: Carefully read and follow all instructions provided in the package insert.
  2. Check Expiry Date: Ensure the test device is not expired and has been stored properly (2-30 degrees C).
  3. Pre-Collection Preparation: Avoid placing anything in the mouth (food, drink, gum, tobacco) for at least 10 minutes before the test.
  4. Proper Saliva Collection: Actively swab the absorbent wick around the gums (10-15 times) and hold it under the tongue until the flow appears in the test windows.
  5. Room Temperature: Allow the test device, specimen, and any controls to reach room temperature (15-30 degrees C) before starting the test.
  6. Use Within an Hour: Use the test within one hour after removing it from the sealed pouch.

If you still receive an invalid result after following these tips, repeat the test with a new device. If the result remains invalid, contact the manufacturer for further assistance.
