How To Use

Specimen collection and Preparation:

The urine specimen must be collected in a clean and dry container. Urine collected at any time of day can be used.

How to Use:

  1. Allow the test cassette, urine specimen, and/or controls to equilibrate to room temperature prior to testing.
  2. Remove the test cassette on a clean and level surface.
  3. Remove the cap from the end of the test card. With arrows pointing toward the urine specimen, immerse the strips of the test card vertically for at least 10-15 seconds.
  4. Avoid trapping air bubbles in the specimen well. Place the cassette on a non-absorbent flat surface, start the timer and wait for the red line(s) to appear. The results should be read at 5 minutes. Do not interpret the result after 10 minutes.
INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS

NEGATIVE: Two lines appear. One red line should be in the control region (C), and another apparent red or pink line should be in the test region (T). This negative result indicates that the drug concentration is below the detectable level.  Note: The shade of red in the test (T) region may vary, but it should be considered negative whenever there is even a faint pink line.

POSITIVE: One red line appears in the control region (C). No line appears in the test (T) region. This positive result indicates that the drug concentration is above the detectable level.

INVALID: Control line fails to appear. Insufficient specimen volume or incorrect procedural techniques are the most likely reasons for control line failure. Review the procedure and repeat the test with a new test cassette. If the problem persists, discontinue using the test kit immediately and contact supplier.

WARNINGS
  • Store between 2 - 30 degrees C.
  • Do not use beyond expiry date.
  • Cassette must remain in sealed pouch until use.
  • Adulterants such as bleach and/or alum in urine specimens may produce erroneous results.
  • A positive result indicates presence of the drug or its metabolites but does not indicate the level of intoxication, administration route or concentration in urine.
  • A negative result may not necessarily indicate drug-free urine.
  • Negative results can be obtained when a drug is present but below the cut-off level of the test.
  • The test does not distinguish between drug of abuse and certain medications.

FAQs

How does the Drug Alert test panel work?

The test detects drugs in urine using a competitive binding method. If a drug is present above a certain level, it prevents a colored line from appearing, indicating a positive result. This bulk pack ensures you have multiple tests available for consistent monitoring.

What precautions should I follow when using the test panel?

Use the test only for in vitro diagnostic purposes and before the expiration date. Handle all specimens as potentially hazardous. Keep the panel in its sealed pouch until use and do not freeze. With five tests included, you can perform multiple tests without worrying about running out.

How should I store the Drug Alert test panel?

Store the panel at 2-30°C in its sealed pouch until use. Do not use beyond the expiration date printed on the pouch. Avoid freezing the panel. The five-pack ensures you have several tests stored safely for ongoing use.

How do I collect and prepare a urine specimen for testing?

Collect urine in a clean, dry container at any time of the day. If the urine has visible particles, centrifuge, filter, or let it settle to obtain a clear specimen. Store the specimen at 2-8°C for up to 48 hours before testing. Having a five-pack means you can test multiple samples conveniently.

What materials are provided with the test panel?

The package includes five test panels. Additional materials needed but not provided include a timer and a specimen collection container. The bulk pack is designed to offer comprehensive testing without the need for frequent reorders.

How do I perform the Drug Alert test?

Bring the panel and urine specimen to room temperature. Insert the strips into the urine for 10-15 seconds, ensuring they are dipped to the wavy lines. Place the panel on a flat surface, start a timer, and read the results after 5 minutes. With multiple tests, you can ensure consistent and accurate monitoring over time.

How do I interpret the test results?

Negative Result: Two lines appear—one in the control region (C) and one in the test region (T), indicating the drug level is below the detectable limit.

Positive Result: Only one line appears in the control region (C), with no line in the test region (T), indicating the drug level is above the detectable limit.

Invalid Result: If no line appears in the control region (C), the test may not have worked correctly due to insufficient specimen or procedural errors.

Can the Drug Alert test detect all drugs?

The Drug Alert test panel is designed to detect specific drugs including:

  • Marijuana THC
  • Cocaine COC
  • Opiates OPI (Opium & Heroin)
  • Amphetamines AMP (Speed)
  • Methamphetamine MET (Crystal)
  • Methylenedioxymethamphetamine MDMA (Ecstasy)
  • Tricyclic TCA (Antidepressants)
  • Barbiturates BAR
  • Benzodiazepine BZO
  • Methadone MTD
