A high-visibility police operation was conducted at the Epik Music Festival held at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park, yesterday (Saturday 14 December 2019).
The operation involved officers from the South West Metropolitan Region, as well as the NSW Police Dog Unit.
During the police operation, 18 people were charged with drug related offences, 13 people issued Drug Criminal Infringement Notices (CINs), and 38 people were ejected by police
Of the 18 people charged, seven people were charged with drug supply. Of note:
Following a drug dog detection, an 18-year-old woman was subject to a strip search with officers allegedly locating 800 MDMA capsules in her bra. Police will also allege a further 200 MDMA capsules were concealed internally. The capsules were seized along with ketamine. The Blakehurst woman was charged with supply prohibited drug – commercial quantity and possess prohibited drug.
Following a drug dog detection, a 22-year-old man was subject to a strip search with officers allegedly locating 269 MDMA capsules packaged in a condom and concealed in his underwear. The Punchbowl man was charged with supply prohibited drug – indictable quantity and possess prohibited drug.
A 24-year-old Blakehurst Woman was charged with supply prohibited drug – indictable quantity, after police allegedly seized 50 MDMA capsules.
An 18-year-old Carlingford woman and a 25-year-old Narrabeen man were also charged with supply prohibited drugs.
They are all due to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 14 January 2020.
A 19-year-old Wakeley man was charged with supply prohibited drug – indictable quantity and deal with property proceeds of crime, after police allegedly located 99 MDMA capsules, and cash.
A 19-year-old Berkeley Vale woman was charged with supply prohibited drug – indictable quantity, possess prohibited drug, deal with property proceeds of crime, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, after police allegedly located 36 MDMA capsules and cash.
They are both due to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 15 December 2019).
